Your Journey Doesn’t Have to be Taken Alone

Healing from sexual trauma can feel isolating, but you are not alone.  Sharing space with others who understand and are walking the path of healing alongside you can be very empowering.

We offer three cornerstone events throughout the year that provide a safe space, new tools for growth, and soul-nourishing support for survivors of sexual trauma. Whether you’re just beginning or deepening your healing journey, each event is a doorway to hope, connection, and renewal.

“I didn’t think my sexual abuse counted…”

“Sexual abuse is so intimate. When we let someone in, we literally let them into us. So, when someone forces them self on someone else in a sexual way, it crosses a boundary that is so intimate. Until you heal, you have to shut down. That’s what I learned, I had to shut down from myself until I healed.

After the retreat, I noticed that I was touching people more. I didn’t have my physical boundaries; I didn’t even know I had physical boundaries! I also wasn’t profoundly anxious anymore, which had become the norm for me. It was obvious to me that something had changed.

I almost didn’t do the Day. I was resisting doing it; I was afraid. I’m so glad I did it.”

Details

Break the Silence is an annual event held every April, the month designated for sexual assault awareness.   The Crime Victims Council organization generously provides and supports our shared community in the spacious lower level meeting room where the opportunity to share a personal journey is  held in  safety.  Attendance is free as the benefits are priceless.

What You Will Learn

When you attend you will immediately recognize that you are not alone and that simply being there is part of your healing.  Although not expected or required, you may choose to use your voice to say a few words, share spoken word, a journal entry, or poetry.  And because the nervous  system had a shock response to your own event, and because the nervous system also responds to listening to the shared events of others, Mary, Kate, Liz and MaryAnn Turanchik, who supports the room with the loving wisdom energy of Reiki, will teach breathing practice, Energy Medicine and Mindfulness techniques to reset and balance the system supporting your own intentions for the healing integration that the imprint of trauma created.
